In rural communities and urban slums across Kenya and Africa in general, many poor
children are often left behind in pursuit of quality education.
We identify, adapt and develop innovative approaches that are meant to help the learners catch up and keep pace with the required level competencies. We also advocate for the acquisition of the foundational skills among young children and organise community meetings with parents to enlighten them on their responsibility for their children’s education.
We accelerate the acquisition of basic numeracy and literacy skills for those children left behind in these skills so they can catch up and learn.
We recognize the instrumentality of the early childhood development to learning. We make timely interventions that empower parents, teachers and the community to raise confident, respectful, healthy and successful children.

This cycle begins from the foundational level all through their subsequent learning levels thus impeding their potential to transform their lives and society. This social and societal construct needs to be addressed quickly using sustainable and innovative approaches that recognize the instrumentality of early years, the need for accelerated learning
and content acquisition at the right level and the role of parental involvement. Founded in 2020, Education Empowerment for Rural and Urban slums (EERU Initiative) is a Non-Governmental Organisation that makes timely interventions that guarantee access to quality education for the vulnerable children in rural and urban slums across Kenya and Africa through technical and infrastructural support, policy advocacy, economic empowerment and community sensitization programs.
